This might not be pleasant in the ears of many ladies and can’t be practiced in any culture in Africa.
Our parents and kinsmen must demand for bride price from any man who is willing to settle down with a lady regardless of whether she has known the nakedness of a man or not.
Atleast considering all the expenses made in training and nurturing a girl child until she becomes an adult ,bride price must be paid whenever she finds a suitor.
Activist Reno Omokiri has been known for his controversial nature. Reno Omokiri openly attacks the government verbally and nothing will happen.
On one of his normal tweets on twitter hours ago he raised a topic concerning virgins.
This topic is sensitive and might raise a lot of arguments.
Using his twitter page he wrote,
“What I am going to say will shock people. Scripturally, Bride Price is ONLY paid for virgins. Don’t argue with me. Argue with God. See Exodus 22:16-17. By virtue of Scripture (and also in traditional African society), you pay no Bride Price for non virgins”
However,if it is written in the bible ,it could be in the old testament and by the standard set in the new testament,it is no more the issue as Jesus has set us free from all manner of slavery.
Is Reno trying to say that men should take women as their wives without paying bride price?
Nobody tries that.
How many virgins do we even have presently when ladies simply give up their virginity because of hunger and lack.
Men dont give help free these days.
Such idea is outdated and will not work.
