PRESIDENT RAMAPHOSA OF SOUTH AFRICA PREPARES TO SEND SPECIAL ENVOYS TO AFRICAN LEADERS

President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa is determined to send special envoys to several African leaders including Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari in light of xenophobic attacks on foreign nationals in his country.

According to News24, the special envoys would deliver messages of solidarity to several heads of state and governments across Africa amid tensions and violence in the country.

A statement released by South African government spokesperson, Khusela Diko said, “The special envoys will deliver a message from President Ramaphosa regarding the incidents of violence that recently erupted in some parts South Africa, which have manifested in attacks on foreign nationals and destruction of property.”

Xenophobic attacks broke out in recent weeks in South Africa after a taxi driver was killed by an alleged drug dealer in Pretoria. And this level of attack and lootings of September 2019 is unprecedented in the history of Xenophobic movement in South Africa.

Unbelievably , Ramaphosa was jeered at the funeral of the late Zimbabwean leader, Robert Mugabe, on Saturday. He apologised for the attacks in his country.

On Sunday September 15,there was a peaceful protest by South Africans in Johannesburg declaring peace and African unity.

We pray that the new found peace is permanent as many foreigners have vowed to leave South Africa for good as xenophobic attack has become a norm for South Africans.
