When love finds a man, he does the unimaginables. Ntobeko Linda agrees to take Zodwa’s surname after getting married?
Zodwa Wabantu, known better as the queen of Vosho, and her soon to be husband, Ntobeko Linda have gone from Zodwa proposing to Ntobeko, to buying herself the engagement ring and now he is going to take Zodwa’s surname.
Zodwa got into fame years ago for her preference of ditching her underwear and has since been labelled somewhat of a feminist icon by her supporters. She loves to go against the grain.
Zodwa surprised everyone earlier this month when she got down on a knee and proposed to her Ben 10, Ntobeko. She even purchased the rings for both of them at her cost and has expressed that she will be sending representatives from her family to Ntobeko’s family to negotiate lobola(bride price).
Zodwa is going against African tradition where the bride price is observed, it is a man’s duty that he pays his bride’s family in a heterosexual relationship. Payment is determined differently in a gay or lesbian relationship.
According to TshisaLive, Zodwa and Linda spoke to the Daily Sun recently where he revealed he will be taking on his future wife’s surname when they officially marry.
“We have talked about it and we agree,” said Zodwa before she explained that culture had nothing to do with the way they choose to live their lives.
“But culture has nothing to do with us. We were not there when old people decided to do things their way. We will decide things ourselves,” said Zodwa.
She added: “We are different and we want to do things differently. Some people may not like the way we do things but we don’t care. I love my fans but this is a personal issue.” Zodwa has said it all.
