The body of Reverend Father Clement Ugwu was found lying dead in a bush at Obinofia Ndiuno of Ezeagu LGA in Enugu state a week after he was reportedly abducted by some unknown gunmen after he was shot in his church premises (St Mark parish Obinofia Ndiuno) around 9pm on Wednesday 13th March 2019.
His remains has since been laid to rest at Holy Ghost Cathedral catholic cemetery Enugu.
The Bishop of Enugu diocese, Most Rev. Callistus Onaga while speaking shortly after the deceased was laid to rest said that the hoodlums made some withdrawals from his bank account through his ATM card. He also accused the police of doing nothing to bring the perpetrators to book after assuring him on three different occasions that they were closing in on the hoodlums stating that the body of father Clement was found decomposing not up to 20km away from his parish house. The Bishop urged the police to go after the kidnappers and bring them to face the full charges of the law.
