Festus Keyamo who is a SAN and the spokesman for the 2019 Buhari Presidential campaign was on Channels TV last night where the issue of PMB’s WAEC result was discussed as other political parties have continually contested PMB’s eligibility to run for Presidency as he is yet to tender his WAEC certificate to INEC.
keyamo said the WAEC result is not a prerequisite as one who have occupied a public office for a reasonable length of time can become President of Nigeria without the need for a WAEC result. – This is as stated by the constitution.
He went further to state that the section 318 of the 1999 constitution defines ”School Certificate or its Equivalent ” to mean primary 6 school leaving certificate plus the ability to just speak, write, understand, and communicate in English language to the satisfaction of INEC.
Having made this assertion, Nigerians have not taken it likely with Keyamo as many called him names and accused him of quoting the constitution to suit himself and his cohorts. While some even brought up the just concluded issue of Senator Ademola Adeleke who was continually dragged around by his APC counterparts for not being able to present a WAEC certificate to INEC on time as they claimed he was over qualified to be governor of Ondo state having been in the Senate for over 4years.
