Pupils claim that they are forced to perform sexual acts for older students in school bathrooms.
The 18-year-old boy Daniel Bakwela, who was allegedly stabbed to death by a fellow pupil outside the school on Monday was being bullied for four months prior to the attack.
Police spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo said the suspect had ran from the scene, but police were able to trace him in Dobsonville and arrested him.
Pupils reported that when you get into the toilet, the older pupil forced them to pay money to use the toilet and also massage their penises.
Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi said all the pupils involved in the stabbing incident were from Forest High School.
Lesufi said these happened after a scuffle had broken out between the victims and the suspect last week.
Lesufi has suspended classes in the school with immediate effect.
“We have asked the principal to communicate with the parents. We have quarantined the school for the next 48 hours to provide all relevant support that is needed to those who witnessed the stabbings and to friends of the deceased,” he said.
The suspect will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday and faces charges of murder and attempted murder.
